Google's publisher content policies exist to keep advertiser inventory brand-safe. When content crosses certain lines, ads can be limited, restricted, or removed entirely from the affected pages — sometimes site-wide.

Broad categories that commonly trigger issues

  • Adult or sexually explicit content, even in a small section of an otherwise compliant site.
  • Content promoting dangerous or illegal activity.
  • Excessive violence or graphic content without appropriate context or warnings.
  • Content that misrepresents itself, including certain types of clickbait or deceptive claims.
  • Copyright-infringing material, such as unlicensed streaming or download content.

How enforcement usually shows up

You'll typically see it first as reduced ad coverage or limited ad serving on specific pages, sometimes before a full policy notice arrives. Checking your policy center regularly, rather than waiting for an email, catches issues earlier.

If you're flagged

Review the specific pages or content types cited, remove or significantly revise the offending content, and submit for review through the policy center rather than guessing at a fix. Partial fixes that leave similar content live elsewhere on the site tend to result in repeat flags.

How AdPulse helps

Policy review is part of the account audits we run for new and existing publishers — catching content risk before it costs you monetization, not after.
