With your Ad Manager account set up (Guide #1), the next step is creating an order and line item — the structure that tells Ad Manager what to serve, where, and under what conditions.
What orders and line items actually are
An order is a container, typically representing an advertiser or a campaign. A line item lives inside an order and defines the specific delivery details — which ad units, what targeting, what price, and how many impressions or for how long.
Creating your first order
- Go to Delivery, then Orders, and create a new order.
- Name it clearly — for a first test order, something like 'Test Order' is fine.
- Assign it to an advertiser record (create one if this is your first order).
Creating the line item
- Inside the order, create a new line item.
- Choose the line item type — for early testing, a simple standard or house line item is easiest to understand.
- Target it to the ad unit you'll create in Guide #3, or an existing test ad unit.
- Set the delivery goal and, if relevant, a CPM rate.
Next step
Once your first line item is set up, Guide #3 walks through creating the actual ad unit it points to, plus a sample tag to test with.
